Every application runs in the VM. The applications on elastos don’t have access to any of the POSIX level APIs. They have no access to the underlying network sockets. They have no way to communicate to the outside world as even http/https is disabled. The only thing they can do from an application are the APIs that are available to them through this VM - eg Blockchain RPC calls, elastos carrier, etc. This is what elastos means when they say apps have no direct access to the internet. Every request has to go to elastos carrier that then communicates on applications’ behalf. Communication is separate from computation which is what enables a safe runtime environment for apps. There may be a malware in an app and users may accidentally install this on trinity browser. This malware may then try to steal users’ data but it can’t take the data out because apps don’t have access to those APIs that enable you that in the first place. This is what prevents piracy combined with the authentication and trust that’s provided by the Blockchain. Elastos cannot stop piracy 100%. It just raises the bar to an insanely high level that it’s either cost ineffective to do it or it’s just useless. This solution is miles ahead and way better compared to any solution that’s out there right now.
Certainly!! As they say, Rome wasn't built in one day but we have seen that many are realising the potential of blockchain technology in addition to concepts around incentive based tokens and tokenisation of real assets. If we are to put things into perspective, everyday things we take for granted like email also took several years to be adopted.
What Elastos is doing is solving the basic rights and privileges of netizens from all over the world, which is extremely meaningful, and could even transform the major undertakings of the internet in the future–based on the Smartweb Powered by Blockchain.
Just some clarification about Titan:Titan doesn’t use carrier network at this moment. But in the future, Titan will integrate with Elastos to support those dApps which need transmission technology over internet with high speed and low cost. Titan is very smart. It detects the bitrate of target stream media and then decides the numbers and locations of source peer devices. 300 streams for transferring 4K videos, and 30 streams for files with bitrate lower than 1M. Titan team has introduced fundamental innovation into traditional P2P technology. Titan can help people watch 4K movie over internet in Beijing with 400 light modems with very limited storages located in HangZhou. Titan can reduce the usage of CDN to only 10% for short video apps. It is very challenging for those big companies to do data migration. However, Titan can help customer cut bandwidth cost immediately by coworking with CDN and without any data migration. That is why they position transferring with higher priority than storage. Titan will provide proven, high-experience and low-cost transferring/storage service to Elastos ecosystem. And, of course, Titan will support ELA as transaction fee. Titan has integrated successfully with Shijiu TV boxes and now is supporting several short videos apps. Basically, Titan is a protocol, which can be used by internet applications or blockchain dApps and be embedded in any iOS/Android/linux/windows/Mac devices. As such, Titan can be embedded in Elastos and integrated with Elastos carrier. But as of right now, Elastos carrier and Titan are getting verified in real scenarios separately. Only after that, both teams will do the integration.
As a result of careful planning and ongoing discussions with the Elastos Foundation and Cyber Republic team members, we are proposing the development of an open source Internet-of-Things(IoT) framework under the name ‘HyperConnect’ that utilizes the Elastos blockchain and Carrier network as well as other components of the Elastos ecosystem. The goal of the project is to provide a modular, open-source and feature-rich framework that may be used in any IoT industry vertical as well as for personal use.For further details, please see: https://www.cyberrepublic.org/suggestion/5c5dae0a09950d00941c4cbcPlease feel free to share your concerns or suggestions in the comment section of the page https://www.cyberrepublic.org/suggestion/5c5dae0a09950d00941c4cbcThank you!

We didn’t lose the Internet, we lost OUR Internet. youtu.be/vaJ5Pguxd4MElastos is the modern internet. Elastos: Smartweb powered by blockchain. We are the the #CyberRepublic cyberrepublic.org @Elastos_org
People say DApps are the future. But could we come to consensus for the following two questions? (1) DApps could not be shutdown by a third party. (2) DApps, as digital assets, should preserve their value for 10 years or more, i.e., they should still run after 10 years or more.Taking Crypto Kitty for example, if the website is down, can you run your kitty? Are you sure that the kitty client app would run on a host OS in ten years? BTC blockchain has been running for more than ten years. How about Ethereum smart contracts? Asking the right questions is the first step towards solving them.Elastos is not there yet, but we are moving towards the direction to answer above questions, and the Elastos Smartweb has been running since yesterday. Hooray!
FishChain Explores the Innovative Model of Cooperation between Public Blockchain and Blockchain-Based GamesBeijing, 27th March 2019 – FishChain had announced its participation in the Elastos DPoS Supernode election. The 5,000 ELA that needs to be locked in for DPoS supernode election will be raised from the community members via public auction of 25 gold ELA node fishes with ultra high computing power and high collection value. Once the ELA fish node is elected as an DPoS node, all rewards received by the node annually will be added to the ELA mining pool for distribution among miners. Meanwhile, anyone who purchases the 25 commemorative gold ELA node fishes will be named as one of the “25 Founders”and will be eligible to share any subsequent ELA rewards generated from the gameplay. The auction will start at 10pm on 2nd April, Beijing time. It is reported that the recent eco-game cooperation between FishChain and the NEOFISH from NEO ecosystem are gradually unveiling its mystery. Incase you're wondering what a Native app is after reading this -"if a preexisting application like Facebook or Snapchat decided to utilize Elastos Technologies it would not be enclosed in the runtime but still gain blockchain like capabilities. The Elastos SDK has the ability to ascend preexisting applications like Facebook or Snapchat, be that Android or IOS. When adopting this approach however, you will not be able to utilize the versatility of the Runtime and will only be able to use that application on the device it was designed to be executed on. However, the security benefits are worth it. Identity authentication and trusted records can be a game changer and provide never before seen levels of security or accountability to traditional applications. An application taking this approach would be considered an Elastos Hybrid Decentralized Application/Native IOS or Android application. The file extensions for applications like this will be “.apk” as can be seen with the Community Developed “Ela Chat” Application. Applications that are utilizing the Elastos Runtime will have the file extension of “.epk” as it will be an Elastos package. Apps that are fully enclosed in the Runtime are considered Native Elastos Applications."

Dear community,I need your help! I have been a token holder of Elastos for a long time. I have invested heavily in what I believe is one of the worlds greatest technological developments in the Blockchain sector. We are all likely to be thinking the same otherwise we wouldn’t be here.Outside of crypto I operate a network of businesses that focus on the blockchain sectors and work with a various top 50 projects to great success.I have been thinking for a while on how I could assist Elastos personally. Today I have submitted a proposal to the Cyber Republic in which I believe could dramatically help. I am using all resources available to me to put this together including at a personal cost. I have proposed a heavily subsidised solution that in my professional opinion represents extraordinary value to Elastos not to mention a 6 month commitment from me and my resources. Please lend support in taking us forward. We need it. Thank you https://www.cyberrepublic.org/suggestion/5cf8016cda6443009400b3c2
i dont support this.We will receive numerous suggestions concerning elastos marketing. Probaly an endless stream of people in the blockchain media industry will come and try to make earnings out of it. I am very afraid a lot of people will see this kind of marketing as a quick way to raise the token price and therefor vote in favor of these type of suggestions. This is a serious pitfall in my view. Offcourse marketing should be applied, but as spoken before at the right time, in a coordinated way.Personally my opinion is that we should only use budget for marketing. in case there is also an extra added value to our ecosystem, not just media attention only.Maybe its an idea to put a cap on the marketing budget available for these type of suggestions so we can be sure not to spend to much on it.

I’ve been thinking about my own learning and I am thinking about taking this 6 week online course through Oxford. I note that Saifedeen Ammous is also now running an online course for The Blockchain Standard. And @ElastosAcademy are building course material for GMU. I think there’s a link between the education for cyber security professionals and Elastos. There’s no point putting patches on a broken internet. When companies demand Elastos solutions, developers will come. How about we specifically tailor the GMU / Academy products for the Cyber Security audience too? Thoughts?

@Everyone:Hi Guys - I’m thinking of giving up my well paid full time job to work full time on Elastos and blockchain for a year (summer 2020-2021). I need to decide by Jan. What do you think? I’ve a couple of ideas that’s I’d like to pursue including: - making weekly podcasts / videos on Elastos for noobs- turbo-charging the UK Elastos community and Orchard as European business hub- writing a book about Rong / Feng and Elastos’ place in historyI’ve never done any of the above before, but I’ve got spirit and a great network. I’m struggling to see how I could make money for subsistence, but I’ll have a small stipend to cover mortgage and basics. What do you think? All ideas / advice considered. Cheers, Chris
I have been busy too. E.g:- briefed cyber security ISC2 Chapter in London- linked with Defence Joint Innovation Hub in London and will brief senior Army General in charge of Digital Transformation in the NY- linked to Defence Science & Technology Labs (DSTL) open Innovation challenge with a view to hosting hackathon for devs- linked to BBC innovation- linked to CrowdCube founder - linked to NimbusNinety to give a Elastos brief in mid-2020- potential to attend 3 x Blockchain conferences in 2020 as Orchard (business cases yet to go into CR).

🔥 Saturday we had the pleasure of meeting Rong Chen and some of the Elastos team in Paris! Some notes below:🔹 Rong explained where Elastos comes from. It means both another cloud and an elastic OS. It was born from a desire to get back our privacy and achieve a smart economy. ❌ Right now, applications can send packets containing our data at will. Elastos will provide an OS that will control the network connections of the applications, therefore preventing them to leak or receive unauthorized data. 👉 A good and vivid example is about home security cameras. Do we know what the company who handles them does with the footage? They could easily have an AI-based image recognition software run on all the feeds from all the cameras they've sold and know who visits each home, at what time. Maybe even know what's going on inside many houses. 🌐 You've understood it, Elastos can bring an unprecedented level of privacy to the IoT world. Rong was also mentioning Tesla for example. The possibilities are nearly limitless. Wherever there's critical data, there's a potential need for privacy.📚Another use case is the P2P selling of digital assets. Elastos will provide atomic swaps when trading them: the copy of a book or a song will be deleted from user A's device, sent to user B's device and the funds for the transaction will go from B to A at the same time. They are big on fighting piracy. They are also working on a digital capsule for DRM, probably out next year.♦️ Companies are very aware of the fact that data is misused but they don't care because they make money. 🎤 It will be possible to buy tickets for events thanks to Elastos before August. No more scalping.💰 Rong was very open about the financial state of the Elastos foundation, saying they raised the equivalent of 6500 BTC in August 2017. 👥 They have about 100 employees.✈️ They do not fly first class or stay in 5-star hotels. Rong even said he's willing to have someone from the community who has a CPA and is willing to sign an NDA to take a look at the books and write a report for the community.✅ They are trying to make their funds last for as long as they can and then Elastos will be fully autonomous, governed by the nodes and the community. The foundation is not only a non-profit but also nearly a non-income foundation.💎 Elastos will bridge so many services thanks to their protocol built on top of the TCP/IP layer, not on the blockchain itself. They will have many partners covering all the needs for users: storage, computation, sending messages and exchanging value. They will support the Ethereum blockchain and others. Their vision is an all-encompassing ecosystem. 📅 They are about to go live in a few weeks with another big update. They're just giving a few weeks for the nodes to update the software and run some tests to make sure everything will be smooth. 🙏 It was a great event. Elastos has very interesting things planned. Rong has been working on this for the past 20 years. He's been through many hardships which have solidified his vision and his will. Really looking forward to seeing how things will develop.

“If you want a high TPS and you’re not satisfied with Ethereum Sidechain TPS which is around 1500 TPS, then you can port existing fast consensus Blockchain platforms as a sidechain to Elastos. Elastos is really very agnostic. The only reason there is even a limit to ETH sidechain on Elastos is because that’s the limit of the ETH network. If there’s a more robust network than ETH, and it’s popular, it’s easy to port it to Elastos. Then you can have all the insane TPS you want.” 1500 TPS is currently around 100 times faster than the amount of transactions per second Ethereum can currently produce.
